Extremely useful 'everlasting' flower, very pretty, daisy-like and

HOLLYHOCK -
FH455 Double Mixed - As a screen or at the back of a border, it
has few rivals, includes a wide range of colours, some of which

F1479 Purporea Mixed-Deservedly popular climber, easily grown and
gives a wonderful display of large trumpet like blooms.
KOCHIA -
FK485 Trichophylla - A plant grown in almost every garden because
of the very attractive finely cut, pale green foliage which forms
a perfect bush. Ideally suited for the centre of beds, a temporary

KOHL RABI -
An interesting Cabbage/Turnip flavour and is used widely on the
continent. The bulb grows above the soil, and should be cooked while
young and tender. Sow April-mid July outdoors (10-12 weeks maturity).
High in vitamin C, potassium and fiber. Cut up 'roots' can be boiled
in soups and stews, or grate raw for salads.
LARKSPUR -
FL501 - Dwarf Double Rocket Mixed-Useful for clumps in the border
and an excellent cut flower for which purpose it is widely grown.
Do not sow on the plains until the cold weather has commenced. Ht.

Sow little and often to ensure a continuous supply. Grow in a rich
soil and water well in dry periods. Sow outdoors at fortnighly intervals
from March to July and in September sow varieties which stand through

This beautiful flower is so easily grown, produces a mass of brilliant
colours, all varieties being very attractive on a bank, whilst the
tall will hide an unsightly object or brighten the back of a border,
also a very useful cut flower. Best grown in poor soil as otherwise
an abun-dance of leaves will hide the blooms.

ONION -
Sow main crop onions March-April outdoors and thin early. For very

PANSY -

Grown in practically every garden either as a bedding plant, for
edging or in pots, to ensure a continuous display, cut-off all dead
blooms for more flowers.
FP700 Suttons Giant Fancy - A strong growing strain, heavy blotches
of contrasting colour on the lower petals enhance the brilliant
efect of a bed.
PEA -
R = Round, Hardy and can be sown in late autumn or from January
to March.
W = Wrinkled. Can be sown in succession from March to June. Allow
60-120cm (2-4') between rows according to the height of the variety.
General sowing and cultural instructions are geven on all our packets.
Most varieties freeze well, but those especially suitable are marked*.
For exhibition : grow on single canes, removing tendrils and tying
in securely. Allow approx. 21 days from flowering time to date of
show, and take precautionary measures when plants bloom to prevent
damage to pods by maggots. (12-14 weeks maturity). Good source of
vitamin B1 and folic acid. Steam gently to retain nutrient values.
Can also be eaten raw. Recently voted No.1 for taste by kids!
PETUNIA -
Long flowering, excellent for bedding, pots and hanging basket.
The plants should not be grown in rich soil as they would produce
a mass of foliage at the expense of flowers. The seed being so very
fine should be handled with great care.
F1 Hybrids - These outstanding strains generally completely outclass
those which have been open-pollinated, they are vigorous, free flowering
and of uniform growth, however, due to the complexity and high cost
of producing F1 Hybrid Grand flora(GR) strains are very large flowered
and particularly vigorous.

PORTULACA -

RADISH (WINTER) -
For winter use sow in July. Very large roots (approx. 450 gm (1lb)
each) which may remain in situ to be lifted as required. In very
severe weather cover with straw or bracken. Alternatively lift and
store roots in dry sand, soil or peat. Excellent sliced or shredded
in winter salads.
SPINACH -
Crops continuously if picked often. Sow March-May outdoors and thin
out early for use in summer and autumn. (8-10 weeks maturity). Nutritious
and tasty. High in vitamins A and C, and antioxidants. Lightly steam
or eat raw.
CARROT - Sow Nelson or Amsterdam Forcing 3 in February for use June-July.
Sow later varieties March-July and store main crop roots in dry
sand or soil. (12-20 weeks maturity). very high in vitamin A. Nutrients
actually increase with cooking - as long as not over - cooked.
SALVIA -
A good bedding or pot plant, the variety being very widely grown
because of their vivid and striking colour.
