Sutton Seeds had started producing vegetable and flower seeds in England in 1806 under the guidence of its Founder Director or its Founder Mr. P. Suttons. Subsequently it became one of the biggest producers of flower & vegetable seeds in Europe having its Office at 69, Piccadilli, London, in 1909 it opened its first office outside England and that was in Calcutta, India and the Founder Managers were Mr. E. P. Forquett Sutton, M.B.E.I. Noel Sutton, M.A., Martin A.F. Sutton,FIS & Owen P.F.Sutton wherein the office was first situated in Park Mansion, Calautta and subsequently shifted in the early thirties to its present office situated at 13-D,Russell Street, Calcutta-700 071. Subsequently in the year 1969 when the law in our country changed wherein the foreigners were not being allowed to hold 100% share of the companies. Mr. Suttons along with its Director Mr. John Hodges & Mr. Smallwood who was the production Director based in Srinagar, India was approached by Mr. Suresh Kumar, pioneer Indian businessman to jointly run the Company. Mr. Kumar successfully ran the company from 1969 till 2000. In the year 2000 his health failed him and subsequently it was taken over by Mr. Charles Mantosh who has a background of Swiss Descent and now the Company is functioning from 13D, Russell Street, Kolkata- 700 071.
